The County Surveyor provides extensive surveying services for both office and field needs.

Surveyor's Office 

The Surveyor's Office is primarily responsible for checking Maps and Documents for compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances;  The Surveyor's Office provide access to recorded and filed maps. Office staff index and file all final maps, parcel maps, and records of surveys after recording and is also responsible for all jurisdictional and special district boundary mapping within the County.  

Map & Document Review  
The Office Section is primarily responsible for checking subdivision maps, records of surveys, lot line adjustments, corner records, voluntary mergers, and certificates of compliance for compliance with Federal State and local laws and ordinances.  For a complete list of project types, see the Subdivision Map and Document Review Fee Schedule .

Right of Way
Right of Way determination provides answers to and makes determinations about Right-of-Way and Easement ownership information for Santa Barbara County Public Works.

Geographic Information Systems
The GIS Team is composed of a small staff that provides mapping support and spatial services to all the divisions within the Public Works Department. Primarily tasked with the development of the Public Works Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the team helps provide cost-saving solutions to the various projects and initiatives that are geographic in nature.

Field Survey Services
Field Survey Services provide for topographic mapping, boundary determinations and construction staking for Santa Barbara County projects using the latest surveying equipment and computer software. Filed Survey services also provide for the responsible preparing of Records of Surveys, legal descriptions, Corner Records, topographic maps and Control Surveys for County projects or facilities.
