  • COUNTY OF SANTA BARBARA PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TEMPORARY CHANGES IN SERVICE DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC - As of 10 a.m. March 20, 2020 - Most of the County's public counters will be closed through April 3 or longer, depending on the status of the pandemic. However, most departments have online, mail, fax, phone and drop boxes for the public to continue accessing programs and services.   • Governor Issues Stay at Home
    California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the California State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health is ordering all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors. This was done to prevent the further spread of COVID 19 in the state.

  • As of March 18, Santa Barbara County is eligible for U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board just released the "COVID-19 Business Resource Guide" to help businesses. It's just the start to helping our community recover from economic and emotional impacts associated with the pandemic.   • County officials continue to closely monitor the outbreak of a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that has begun to spread to other countries, including the United States. Learn more from County Public Health.

  • Results of the 2020 Point in Time (PIT) Count of persons experiencing homelessness was released today. Countywide, 1,897 persons were counted representing an increase of 5 percent in the number of persons experiencing homelessness.

  • The Santa Barbara County Community Services Department, Parks Division, is hiring beach lifeguards, pool lifeguards and junior lifeguard instructors for the 2020 summer season.
