Our Impact

Working with the Board of Supervisors, the Human Services Commission aims to impact as many lives as possible through funding given to nonprofit organizations working to provide basic services through safety net programs throughout Santa Barbara County.

Since its inception in 1977, the commission has advised the board on the distribution of more than $40 million in general and federal funds. More than 100 nonprofit organizations have received grants, and thousands of individuals and families have benefited from access to resources such as after-school programs; senior programs; counseling and case management; food; clothing and shelter; rental housing assistance; and job preparedness, to name a few.
