At approximately 3:00 a.m., on June 5, 2019, Deputies with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6500 block of Camino Venturoso in Goleta on a reported suspicious subject in a parked vehicle.

Detectives from the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division are investigating a violent crime which occurred in Old Town Goleta in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 2, 2019.

On several occasions this past week, Deputies from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department have been called to investigate a report of residential burglary. In two of the homes, the burglars forced entry, ransacked the home, and stole cash, jewelry, and other valuables.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) has confirmed the first case of measles in the county since 2016. The person identified is a resident of Santa Barbara in his 20s. The individual is considered infectious between May 25, 2019 through June 2, 2019 but has been in isolation since May 29, 2019.

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that a felony complaint has been filed against Jose Ramirez, 27, of Lompoc, California. Mr. Ramirez is charged with murder, in violation of Penal Code section 187 in connection with the May 19, 2019 death of his infant daughter, Evelyn Ramirez.

On June 3rd, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD), in conjunction with all other local fire jurisdictions, will declare the beginning of the 2019 High Fire Season period for all areas of Santa Barbara County.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on May 24, 2019, Sheriff's Deputies contacted 32-year-old Kyle Kenneth Hogue of Templeton in San Luis Obispo County at the Jack in the Box parking lot located in the 5000 block of Orcutt Road.

On Monday, May 20, 2019, a Sheriff's Rural Crimes Detective was conducting an investigation regarding stolen property from several farms in the Santa Maria area.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Human Resources Bureau hosted entry level physical and written exams this past Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Ventura Law Enforcement Academy.

The Sheriff's Office is releasing the name of the decedent in a suspicious death investigation. The decedent is 34-year-old Maurilio Manzano Gonzalez of Santa Maria. Gonzalez was found deceased near his vehicle in the 5600 block of Santa Rosa Road near Lompoc on May 17, 2019.
