Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that as a result of a plea agreement relating to the possession and distribution of child pornography, Gregory Allen Loya, age 32, of Santa Maria, was sentenced to 4 years in state prison and must register as a sex offender of life.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office received a report that there were two overdue hikers in the Cuyama area. A Lompoc resident called 9-1-1 to report that her 59 year old husband and his friend, a 66 year old male from Santa Maria, had not returned from a day hike near McPherson Peak and she was concerned about their welfare.
District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced that on November 21, 2013, Evan Quinn Githens pled, as charged, to four felony counts including Felony Child Endangerment, Vehicle Theft, Evading Officers with Willful Disregard for Public Safety, and Hit-and-Run Causing Injury.
Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that Felix Nicolas, age 39, of Santa Maria was convicted, as charged, of 16 felony counts including solicitation to commit murder, aggravated sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14, oral copulation of a minor under the age of 14, rape of a minor under the age of 14, and attempted sodomy of a minor under the age of 14.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. this morning, November 21, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Detectives assisted by the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team surrounded two homes in the Santa Maria area where they had information that a fugitive may be hiding out. Sheriff's Detectives with the North County Criminal Investigations Bureau have been investigating the whereabouts of 35 year old Osvaldo Hernandez, a documented gang member, wanted in connection with a stabbing outside the Chumash Casino on November 6 and for evading Sheriff's Deputies who attempted to pull him over when a Sheriff's Deputy discovered him driving in the Santa Maria area.
