A brush fire broke out near Refugio Canyon late this afternoon. Air resources from the Rey Fire were diverted to the 20-acre blaze. Residents between Coal Canyon and the Refinery were originally directed to evacuate. This has since been downgraded to shelter-in-place. Rey Fire Information
Total burn area: 31,505 acres. 37% containment. Smoke will continue to be visible for large distances. There is an Air Quality Watch in place throughout the count, and residents are encouraged to limit their exposure to smoke. Hourly air quality readings taken at various locations can be found on the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District website.
East Camino Cielo has been closed at Highway 154. Gibraltar Road is closed between E. Camino Cielo and Santa Barbara city limits.
State Hwy 154 is open in both directions between Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara. Paradise Road remains closed.
Paradise Road remains closed and the evacuation order has not been lifted. Those with proof of Paradise Road residency are permitted to access their homes.
