Unclaimed Monies
The County of Santa Barbara collects money from defendants on behalf of victims having experienced monetary loss resulting from an act of crime committed. Once collected those monies are then disbursed to the victim.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector-Public Administrator-Public Guardian tracks the collection and disbursement of victim monies. However, some victims are unable to be located, and monies they are owed is not disbursed.
Over the next few months the Treasurer-Tax Collector-Public Administrator-Public Guardian will be publishing lists of victim names and associated monies owed to those victims, in hopes that victims will be located and monies owed will be disbursed. Each list will be published in the Santa Barbara News Press for 2 consecutive weeks and victims will have 60 days to contact the Santa Barbara County Treasurer-Tax Collector-Public Administrator-Public Guardian to claim the money owed to them.
