The Treasurer - Tax Collector - Public Administrator is independently elected by the voters of Santa Barbara County to receive, safeguard, and invest county, school, and special district funds; collect taxes and revenues; administer estates for county residents when required as public administrator; administer conservatorships for county residents when required as public guardian; and assist county veterans in obtaining State and Federal Benefits. The duties and responsibilities of the office are established by law in the Government Code, Revenue and Taxation Code, Probate Code, State Constitution, and county ordinances. In Santa Barbara County the functions of the office are organized into the divisions of the Tax Collector, Treasurer, Public Administrator, Public Guardian, Veterans Services, and Deferred Compensation. PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE ONLINE, BY PHONE, BY MAIL, OR IN PERSON AS FOLLOWS:

Payments made by mail must be United States Postmarked by the delinquent date to avoid late penalties.
Payments may be made in person at either of the two County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office locations between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m, Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.
FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE THE TAXPAYER OF THE RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE TIMELY PAYMENTS
