Santa Barbara County Employees' Retirement System

Highlights

Additional Retirement Credit Policy Change

Vested members of the retirement system may purchase up to five years of Additional Retirement Credit (ARC).  The Board of Retirement recently authorized a correction to its policy to clarify that only active, vested members (current County employees with 5 or more years of service) may elect a purchase of ARC.  Deferred and reciprocal members are ineligible, therefore please be aware that if you intend to purchase ARC you must do so before leaving County employment.  Contact your SBCERS Retirement Representative for more information.

Elections Cancelled

The elections scheduled to fill three positions on the Board of Retirement were cancelled by the Board of Supervisors on September 6, 2011.  Only one qualified nomination was filed for each available position, and so the following individuals have been elected by default to terms beginning January 2012 and ending December 2014:

Active General Member - Dawn Cieslik

Retirement Member - Zandra Cholmondeley (incumbent)

Alternate Retired Member - John McMillin (incumbent)
