Charitable Giving Campaign Logo Large

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

This month marks the beginning of the County’s Annual Charitable Giving Campaign. Last year, County of Santa Barbara employees raised more than $209,000!  I hope you will join me in learning more about how we can give back to our community by exploring the links on this web page, attending a presentation, or talking with your department’s representative.

The County’s 2012 Charitable Giving Campaign runs from September 10th through October 19th and the theme is United for Literacy.  In order for students to benefit from the education provided by schools and to achieve in any area of study, they must first be able to read with speed, comprehension and vocabulary appropriate for their grade level. Did you know 3rd grade literacy performance is a top indicator for graduation success? Improving literacy and graduation rates of local students benefits our entire community.

This campaign affords us the opportunity to assist local non-profit and charitable organizations that provide many critical services to our community. For over a decade, the County of Santa Barbara has held the largest local campaign in our community, which is something we can all be proud of. Our contributions help enrich the lives of those segments of our population that otherwise would not have access to the resources that most of us enjoy every day. Many of the services funded by our pledges work in tandem with existing County services, which expands the impact your contributions have on the community.

Please remember that whether you decide to support the Charitable Giving Campaign, or one of the many other organizations, your gift will be appreciated.  By focusing our efforts together we can ensure that everyone in our community has a hopeful future.

Thank you for making a difference!

Sincerely,
