There are three different types of collection systems for households in the unincorporated areas of the County: one for the South Coast (from the Ventura County-line to the Gaviota Pass), one for the Lompoc unincorporated area (from the Gaviota Pass north to the crest of Drum Canyon and Harris Grade roads), and one for the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria Valley unincorporated areas.
The following rates pertain to the five zones in the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County that are serviced by the three franchise waste haulers and are effective from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

For drive-in service, the charge to reach the nearest customer, which reduces the distance to the further customers, shall be divided equally among each customer. A travelled roadway is defined as a private road, service road, or driveway on which six or more customers are located.

Typically a household will use at least one container for organics. Residents supply their own trash containers, but service providers furnish green colored organics containers based on the number requested by the customer.
