Proposition 84 - The Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006

 

Passed by California voters in November, 2006, Proposition 84 provides $5.388 billion statewide for various types of projects aimed at:

  • improving water quality;
  • protecting rivers, lakes and streams;
  • improving flood control
  • sustainable communities and the reduction of climate change;
  • protecting beaches, bays and coastal waters;
  • parks and natural education facilities;
  • forest and wildlife conservation; and
  • statewide water planning

$1 Billion of the $5.388 billion is allocated towards IRWM (Integrated Regional Water Management), which includes $900 million for 11 funding areas (regional) and $100 million allocated inter-regionally
