Bid Information


Sealed proposals will be received at the FRONT COUNTER of the Santa Barbara County Department of Public Works, County Engineering Building, 123 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara, California, until 2:00 p.m. on the date specified on the " Projects For Bid" schedule ( UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN THE PROJECT NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR ). If you agree to have read this Notice, then you may view the Projects For Bid schedule and be eligible to submit a bid proposal.

Proposals may be mailed to: Santa Barbara County Department of Public Works Attention: Front Counter 123 East Anapamu Street Santa Barbara, California, 93101-2065.

Proposals are required for the entire work described therein. Plans, Notice to Contractors, Special Provisions, Proposal (With Forms) and Contract for bidding on said work may be obtained ONLY at the Department of Public Works, Engineering Building, Engineering and Construction Section, Front Counter, 123 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara California, 93101-2065. Plans, Notice to Contractors, Special Provisions, Proposal (With Forms) and Contract (entire set) for bidding on said work may be purchased there from, as indicated on the Project For Bid sheet, said purchase costs not to be refunded. Additional copies of the entire set, or copies of the Plans may be purchased as well. No Proposal will be considered which is not in accordance with, or on the forms referred to in the entire set documents.

The entire bid package is to be returned. At the time this contract is awarded, the Contractor shall possess either a Class A license or a combination of Class C licenses which constitute the majority of the work.

Pursuant to the provisions in Part 7, Chapter 1, Article 2, Sections 1770, 1773 and 1773.1 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the general prevailing rate of wages in the County in which the work is to be done has been determined by the Director of Industrial Relations. These wage rates appear in the Special Provisions for the mentioned Project in the Section entitled General Prevailing Wage Rates. Future effective wage rates which have been predetermined and are on file with the Department of Industrial Relations are referenced, but not printed in said publication.

The Contractor is requested to employ his craftsmen and other workers from the local labor market whenever possible. "Local Labor Market" is defined as the labor market within the geographical confines of the County of Santa Barbara, State of California.

Pursuant to Section 10263 of the Public Contract Code, and the project specifications, the Contractor may substitute securities for monies withheld to ensure contract performance.

The Contractor shall be subject to the provisions of Article XIII, Chapter 2, of the Santa Barbara County Code, prohibiting unlawful discrimination in employment practices.

The Bidder's Bond shall conform exactly to the Bond form in the book entitled "County of Santa Barbara, California, Notice to Contractors, Special Provisions, Proposal and Contract" for the project and shall be properly filled out and executed.

The successful bidder shall be required to guarantee the performance of this Contract, by a "Faithful Performance Bond" and a "Payment Bond Public Works"
