Hours of Operation

Monday through Wednesday  10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Thursday through Saturday  10:00 am – 10:00 pm

Sunday     12:00 pm – 8:00 pm


Juveniles arrested in southern Santa Barbara County (includes: Carpinteria, Montecito, Summerland, City of Santa Barbara, Goleta, Isla Vista and Gaviota) and who are considered detainable are taken to the Santa Barbara Booking Station by local law enforcement. 

 

Intake and Release

  • After the juvenile is booked at the Booking Station, a decision is made to either detain or release the child.
  • If your child is to remain detained, he or she is transported to the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall for secure confinement. 
  • If it is decided that your child does not need continued confinement at this time, he or she will be released to a parent or legal guardian at the Booking Station.
  • Your child could be released on one of three forms of home detention or directly to your custody with no additional supervision.
  • Juveniles arrested during non-operation hours are transported directly to Santa Maria and booked at the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall. 
  • All accessory items in the detainee’s possession are inventoried and kept in the Booking Station property room.  Accessory items include, but are not limited to:  jewelry, wallets, cell phones, money etc. 
  • When a south county detainee is to be released, the detainee is transported from juvenile hall back to the Booking Station.  You also have the option of picking up your child from the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall.
  • Detainees are only released to their parent or legal guardian.
  • Parents and legal guardians must show valid photo I.D. when picking up a detainee that is being released.
  • Parents should contact their child’s assigned Deputy Probation Officer or the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall to find out when the next Juvenile Court appearance is schedule. 

 

Visiting for South County Detainees

  • Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to visit their son or daughter at the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall located at:

  • Parents and legal guardians who are unable to travel to Santa Maria can visit with their son or daughter through video conferencing at the Santa Barbara Booking Station.
  • Parents or legal guardians must contact the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall to schedule an appointment to visit with their child using the video conferencing system at the Booking Station. 
  • Parents or legal guardians may visit with their child for a total of 2 hours per week.

 

Santa Barbara Booking Station Video Conferencing Time

Monday through Friday  30 minute visits between 3:15 pm – 5:45 pm

Saturday    1 hour visit between 10:30 am – 5:45 pm

Sunday    1 hour visit between 12:30 pm – 7:45 pm
