Los Alamos Planning Area

The town of Los Alamos is an unincorporated community in the northern portion of Santa Barbara County. It is located approximately 40 miles northwest of Santa Barbara and fifteen miles southeast of Santa Maria (Figure 1). U.S. Highway 101 passes directly through the community in a northwest to southeast direction and intersects with Highway 135 (known as Bell Street within town boundaries). The town itself is approximately one square mile in size.
