Mission Statement 

 

COYA, is an action driven alliance of teens increasing awareness of the health risks of tobacco and encouraging prevention and policy change within the community, while providng members with leadership skills, in a fun safe environment, anf the opportunity to serve the public.

 

 

COYA Youth

 

What Does COYA Do? 

 

  • Limit access to tobacco, especially near schools 
  • Promote smoke-free laws
  • Protect others from secondhand smoke
  • Act as role models

 

 

Who Can Join?

 

 

High school-age youth in Santa Barbara County who want to better the health of their commmunity.

 

 

Why Should I join?

 

 

  • To earn community service hours or pay
  • To gain leadership skills
  • To build your resume or college application
  • To get involved in your community
  • To make a difference in tobacco-related health issues

 

What's The Commitment?

 

  • 2 meetings per month, 2 hours each, totaling 4 hours
  • An additional 4-6 hours of service per month
  • Total time commitment is only 8-10 hours a month!
  • Commit yourself to a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free lifestyle
  • Attend the annual COYA retreat
  • Check your emails regularly
