Consumer Food Protection - Online Inspection Results
The primary goal of the Santa Barbara County Environment Health's Food Safety Program is to prevent the occurrence of food borne illnesses through regulatory and educational efforts with restaurants, markets and other retail food facilities.
" Retail Food Establishment Online Inspection Search" is a web-based service provided to inform the public about inspections conducted of retail food establishments in Santa Barbara County. Retail food establishments include restaurants, fast food establishments, schools, grocery stores, delicatessens, cafeterias, bakeries, ice cream trucks, mobile food units, and temporary food facilities. The purpose of the inspections is to assure that food is being handled safely from preparation through serving to the customer. Environmental Health Specialists observe food handling practices, check equipment for proper operation, check food temperatures, inspect refrigerators and storage areas, check the proper water temperatures and correct use of sanitizers, signs of vermin and proper waste disposal.Online Inspection
After completing an inspection, the Environmental Health Specialist provides the facility owner/operator with a copy of the inspection report as a reference to correct discrepancies and to be available for public view. Summaries of inspection results are normally posted on the EHS website within two business days. The inspection summary report is provided so that the public can quickly identify whether Major Violations1 were observed during the inspection.
