Trail Maintenance Volunteers
Located within the front range of the Santa Ynez Mountains, the Santa Barbara Front Country Trails (FCT) include: Jesusita, Tunnel, Rattlesnake, West Fork Cold Springs, East Fork Cold Springs, San Ysidro, and Romero Canyon.
Managed jointly by the US Forest Service, Los Padres Forest, County of Santa Barbara and City of Santa Barbara through the Front Country Trails Program, these trails provide more than 35 miles for day hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.Community trails organizations, such as the Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers, the Santa Barbara County Trails Council, Los Padres Forest Association and the Montecito Trails Foundation, as well as community trail advocates, are key partners in the maintenance and management of the trail system. Contact these organizations to learn more and participate in their efforts to support Santa Barbara's front country trails.
Volunteers are the backbone of the trail maintenance program. Trails workdays are held on weekends throughout the year, and we are always looking for volunteers. In many cases no experience is required. Popular days include: State Trails Day in April, National Trails Day in June, and National Public Lands Day in September.
