ILP Information and Contact Info

 

One On One Help

ILP staff and your Social Worker or Probation Officer can meet with you individually to help you with the following things.

  • Employment preparation and job search.
  • Obtaining personal records, birth certificate, California ID, SS card, School and medical records.
  • Preparation for community college or university and vocational training programs.
  • Assistance with opening savings and checking accts.
  • Access to community services and public transportation. Provide maps and bus passes to help you get around town independently.
  • Assistance in locating friends or family members
  • Access to scholarships designed specifically for ILP youth.
  • Aftercare services to former foster youth up to age 21.
  • Housing assistance to former foster youth

We can help you get hooked up with other programs:

California Conservation Corps

- 1-year program ages 18-23, not currently on probation or parole
paid minimum wage, less cost for room meals.

Job Corps

- program length depends upon choice of vocational study, not currently probation or parole. You get paid room and board plus job placement and an allowance when you leave!

- we can hook you up with the recruiters

The Independent Living Skills Program is a statewide program that is available in every county of California. To learn about or access the Independent Living Skills Program in another county you may look in the statewide website to get the names of the ILSP Coordinators in each county.
