ILP is here to provide guidance to you while in placement if you are interested in pursuing college. An ILP Case Manager can discuss college plans individually with you. The community colleges will also offer workshops on how to complete all of the necessary documentation and applications for financial aid and other assistance programs available to assist you in the transition to college. Youth may contact their ILP coordinator at any time with questions about accessing college.

The following websites will link prospective college students to relevant information and forms.

  • www.chafee.csac.ca.gov will direct you to the California Student Aid Commission to apply for the new Chafee Scholarhip of up to $5000 for foster youth.
  • www.fafsa.ed.gov – will allow you to access and complete the Federal Financial Aid Application online and will inform you about deadlines for applying.
  • www.sbscholarship.org- will provide information about available scholarships
  • www.hancockcollege.edu- will provide a link to the Allan Hancock College Website Home page to access any information about the college and it’s programs.
  • www.sbcc.cc.ca.us- will provide a link to Santa Barbara City College Website Home page to access any information about the college and it’s available programs
  • www.calstate.edu,- will link you to the Cal State University system
  • www.ucop.edu/pathways a link to the University of California System
  • www.cpec.ca.gov- a link to the California Post Secondary Education Commission
  • www.orphan.org- This is a national scholarship program designed for foster teens to make the difficult transition to adulthood and the pursuit of their educational goals.
