VISION STATEMENT
Santa Barbara County will be comprised of neighborhoods that
are:
- Integrated throughout its urban areas with a diverse mix
of units and ownership types for all income levels;
- Developed through an efficient and coordinated inter-jurisdictional
land use review process that respects local needs and decision-making;
- inclusive of opportunities where families can live and
work in their own communities.
This will be achieved, working cooperatively with members
of the Housing Advisory Committee and other key county stakeholders,
by maximizing creative housing solutions that make best use
of the available land in a manner that respects our rich history,
diversity, and natural environment, to ensure the housing
needs of Santa Barbarans are met.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the county of Santa Barbara’s Housing
and Community Development Department (HCD), working in cooperation
with county citizens, cities, governmental entities, commercial
interest and other valuable county stakeholders, is to:
Coordinate the development and implementation of regional
strategic housing and community development processes that
respect local needs, priorities and our natural environment,
that lead to the development of healthy and viable neighborhoods
and an improved quality of life for all in our region!
HCD will lead this community building effort by developing
partnerships to create a full spectrum of housing; building
creative strategies for economic vitality; promoting advocacy
& educational activities on healthy growth and well designed
development initiatives.
