Many features of interest to local government including roads, zoning, property lines, political jurisdictions, utilities or the location of an emergency call are geographically based and therefore can be located, inventoried and viewed in new ways using geographic information system (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) technology. Utilization of user-friendly, web-based interactive maps and self-service applications increases constituent satisfaction and helps organizations save time and costs associated with accessing county information.
