Santa Barbara Harbor -Fishwalk Interpretive Panels
|
|
Fishwalk comprises a series of nine interpretive panels that inform readers about local species of commercially harvested seafood. Fishwalk is situated in an area frequented by locals and tourists - along the breakwater and next to the commercial fishing docks in the Santa Barbara harbor. The Santa Barbara City Waterfront Department installed the panels in
early 1998. The panels describe how species such as lobster, crab, shrimp,
halibut and rockfish are caught, transported and marketed locally. The
panels also provide readers with cooking tips for preparing the different
types of seafood for consumption. This form of marketing assistance complements
other nearby projects funded by the Fisheries Enhancement Fund such as
the Santa Barbara Fishermen's Market, where locals and tourists can purchase
fresh fish directly from fishing boats on Saturday mornings |
