Cuyama Solar Array Project and County-Wide Inland Zoning Ordinance Amendments

Energy Division deemed the Cuyama Solar Array Project complete on October 27, 2011. Planning the project also includes County-Wide Inland zoning ordinance amendments. The zoning amendments would allow for the permitting of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic projects in the Inland area of the County with a Major Conditional Use Permit. First Solar has proposed to construct a renewable energy project that would produce up to 40 megawatts of electric power using horizontal trackers solar photovoltaic modules on approximately 327 acres of agricultural land. An environmental scoping hearing was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Cuyama Valley Recreation District in New Cuyama. The Project application, detailed project description and site plans can be viewed by clicking here. The Preliminary Environmental Assessment, prepared independently by the applicant, discusses potential project environmental impacts and will be used as a starting point for discussion during the meeting and can be viewed here.
