Santa Barbara County has long had a drug court, Clean and Sober
and Mental Health Treatment programs. With the passage of Proposition
36, the criminal justice system is now involved in administering
an even larger treatment diversion population.
As a partner in these diversion programs, the District Attorney's
Office has assigned two full-time attorneys to the courtrooms dedicated
to these programs. Defendants are now provided with the most extensive
treatment services available with the goal of curing their addictions
or drug problems and eliminating future violations.
