A: No. The County Counsel's office does not represent individuals in private legal matters. The office provides legal advice and representation to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, County departments, and other public officers and agencies on matters related to the operation and management of the county and other public agencies.

A: The Office of County Counsel is permitted to give legal advice only to its County government and (department) clients and not to private citizens (Refer to "Links to Legal Resources" tab for further assistance).

A: Small claims matters are handled by the Superior Court.
