Welcome to the County of Santa Barbara Commission for Women!

Welcome to the County of Santa Barbara Commission for Women!
Thank you for your interest in the Santa Barbara County Commission for Women. Our commission is made up of a diverse group of energetic and committed women, who are active community members from each of the five supervisorial districts. The Commission for Women seeks to promote the well- being and equal status of women in Santa Barbara County. Our goal is to help women in need, collaborate with other agencies, facilitate, recognize and recommend programs, gather and disseminate information, conduct public meetings and advise the Board of Supervisors.

We would like to hear from you and you are welcome to attend our meetings! We meet monthly and our sessions are open to the public. Any group that would like to make a presentation to the Commission should contact Susan Foley at foley@countyofsb.org, 805.568.3522, 105 E. Anapamu St., #406, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101

An important part of our work is to be a resource of information about services for women and children throughout Santa Barbara County. We distribute a resource card in both English and Spanish that includes key contact information. It can be found here: http://www.countyofsb.org/cfw/resources.html.

And we encourage groups that work with women and girls to use our website as a centralized source of information. Submissions may be made by email: Susan Foley at foley@countyofsb.org, 805.568.3522, 105 E. Anapamu St., #406, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101

The Commission for Women often has open positions. Should you be interested in serving as a commissioner, we invite you to consider applying to your supervisor.

This year our projects include activating Women in Leadership and encouraging more women to serve on boards, commissions and in elected office; educating the public on sexual abuse, domestic abuse, campus sexual assault, and human trafficking; and promoting public policies that impact women and children. In conjunction with these issues, we will continue to participate in the Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down. We look forward to more opportunities to learn, lead and engage during the next twelve months.

It is our privilege to support the many people and organizations that are dedicated to honoring, supporting, and improving the lives of all women in Santa Barbara County.
