Welcome to the County of Santa Barbara
Commission for Women!
The Commission for Women seeks to promote
well-being and equal status of women in Santa Barbara County.
Our goal is to help women in need, collaborate with other
agencies, facilitate, recognize and recommend programs, gather
and disseminate information, conduct public meetings and advise
the Board of Supervisors.
The County of Santa Barbara Commission for Women issues its
first Report on Gender Representation on Commissions and Boards,
recognizing that 39% of appointees are women. The full report

Our 2015-2016 initial focus will be Women in Leadership, CEDWA,
and Women Veterans.
In conjunction with these issues, we will participate in the
Santa Barbara County Veterans Stand Down, work with a CEWDA
ordinance, identify and advocate issues impacting women homelessness,
sexual violence, and food insecurity, while looking forward
to more opportunities to learn, lead and engage during the
next twelve months.
The commission will always inform the community and advise
county supervisors on Women’s Public Policy issues,
which educate, support, and inspire women leaders; apply a
gender lens across the public policy spectrum; and conduct
cutting edge, action oriented, and community-engaged public

our meetings! We meet monthly and our sessions are open to
the public. Any group that would like to make a presentation
to the Commission should contact the Equal Employment Opportunity

An important part of our work is to be a resource of information
about services for women and children throughout Santa Barbara
County. We distribute a resource card in both English and
Spanish that includes key contact information. It can be found
