Welcome to the County of Santa Barbara Commission for Women’s website!

The Commission for Women seeks to promote equal status and well-being for women in Santa Barbara County. Our goal is to share resources and information among districts, to keep women's issues visible by actively reaching out to agencies and non-profit organizations, and to communicate to the Board of Supervisors about women's issues in order to affect positive change in the lives of Santa Barbara County residents.

Our general monthly meetings are open to the public. Any group which would like to make a presentation to the Commission should contact the EEO office at 805-568-3410 to be added to the agenda. We encourage groups which work with women and girls to use our website as a centralized source of information. Submissions may be made by email; awonderly@co.santa-barbara.ca.us

Our commission is made up of energetic and committed women, who are active community members from each of the five supervisorial districts. We invite you to consider applying to your local supervisor to serve as a commissioner.

This year we will focus on the issues of educational access and opportunity, including issues around K-12, higher education and vocational programs. We will also be prioritizing the area of women’s health, including mental, emotional and reproductive health, as well as universal health care. We will continue to provide emergency resource information and to recognize excellence in service groups which assist women, especially those women with the greatest needs. We will continue to work in conjunction with the California Commission on the Status of Women, the Association of California Commissions for Women and the National Association of Commissions for Women.
