Welcome to the County of Santa Barbara Commission
for Women’s website!
The Commission for Women strives to promote
equal status and well-being for women in Santa Barbara County.
Our goal as commissioners is to keep women's issues visible
by actively reaching out to agencies and non-profit organizations
and to communicate to the Board of Supervisors about women's
issues. We encourage groups which work with women
to use our website as a centralized source of information.
Our commission is made up of energetic and
talented women from the five supervisorial districts.
We invite you to attend any of our general meetings and consider
applying to serve as a commissioner. Any group which would
like to make a presentation to the Commission should contact
the EEO office to be added to the agenda.
This year we will focus on the issues of
violence against women, to include sexually exploited minors
and teen dating violence; economic justice and pay parity,
and women and aging issues. We will continue to
provide emergency resource information and to recognize groups
which assist women, especially those women with the greatest
needs. We will continue to work in conjunction with the California
Commission on the Status of Women, the Association of California
Commissions for Women and the National Association of Commissions
for Women
