Michael F. Brown - County Executive Officer
Michael F. Brown was appointed County Administrator by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors in October, 1996. He is responsible to the Board for the sound and efficient management of the County government, pursuant to Board policy and the adopted budget.
Mr. Brown is a life long public service professional and prior to his appointment as County Administrator served as the City Manager of the City of Tucson, Arizona; City Manager of the City of Berkeley, California; First Deputy Commissioner of Housing of the State of Connecticut; Deputy City Manager of the City of Hartford, Connecticut; and Director of Budget and Research of the City of Hartford, Connecticut.
Mr. Brown is Chairman of the Center for Performance Measurement of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He holds a 30 years service award from ICMA. His activities include serving as Chairman of the 2003-04 Santa Barbara United Way Campaign, as a member of the Steering Committee of the Fighting Back Anti-Drug and Alcohol Program, and as a member and junior warden of the Vestry and, of St. Marks In The Valley Church.
