Constructing Connections

<empty>

High quality child care establishes a foundation for future success in school, work and life. It also generates revenue in local communities and reduces absenteeism in the workplace. It must be accessible to, and is beneficial for, the entire community.

To meet this challenge, leaders within city and county government and the local child care industry have formed a collaborative partnership and are committed to streamlining the system for the development of high quality child care facilities in Santa Barbara County. They received a grant to enact this mission. Santa Barbara County Constructing Connections will serve families of all income levels and backgrounds, beginning with the county's highest-need.

Constructing Connections Project Vision:

To guide child care facility construction in Santa Barbara County through a comprehensive, systematic, and streamlined planning and building process which will ensure high quality child care for all children, 0-13, including those with diverse and special needs.

Project goals for child care facility development:

  • Create a positive environment
  • Strengthen the business acumen of local providers
  • Develop model policies and best practices
  • Support and guide facilities developers through the process
  • Increase knowledge of, and public will for, these facilities

We are your resource for:

  • Determining demand in your area
  • Licensing requirements
  • Zoning regulations
  • Financial information, including grant sources
