There are three possibilities: 

(1) If the crisis places anyone in immediate danger, call 911.
(2) If the crisis does not involve immediate danger, and if the person in crisis has insurance coverage through a health plan, call the health plan to get a referral to a covered mental health provider.
(3)  For all others, call ADMHS’ 24 Hour Toll Free Access Line at (888) 868-1649. The call is toll free, and someone will answer to assist you 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Yes, alcohol, drug and mental health services are available for persons with both an alcohol and other drug disorder and mental illness, sometimes referred to as co-occurring disorders (COD) or dually diagnosed (DDX). You may also call ADMHS’ 24 Hour Toll Free Access Line at (888) 868-1649.

If you reside locally, Release of Information Authorization/Request forms may be obtained at any of the Santa Barbara County ADMHS Mental Health Clinics where staff is available to assist with completion of forms.  

If you are unable to make your request in person, Release of Information Authorization/Request forms may be obtained by calling the ADMHS Medical Records Department at (805) 681-5328. Incomplete information may delay processing.  Before submitting your request it is important to review the form for completion, including:

1) Personal identifying information of client, to include full name, date of birth and Social Security Number (last four digits are acceptable)
2) Name, address and phone number of the individual or organization to which you want records released
3) What the information will be used for
4) Description of requested information
5) Time period for the information being requested
6) Initials where required
7) Signature and date

 

Generally, charges for Mental Health services depend on a variety of factors. If you have Medi-Cal, there may be a charge based on your income; a financial assessment will be provided at your first appointment. If you have Medicare, check with your health plan for more information.  

The Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) visiting hours are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM daily. If you would like to visit a patient, please call the PHF in advance to ensure the patient is accepting visitors at (805) 681-5244.
