Mental Health Commission

The Santa Barbara County Mental Health Commission (MHC) is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and advises the governing body and the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services Department on various aspects of the local mental health system. The MHC is composed of 16 members, including two voting members and one alternate from each Supervisorial District, and one member of the Board of Supervisors. Consumers, family members and community members serve on the MHC.

Mental Health Commission meetings are open to the public, pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act and usually take place the third Friday of every month at 1:00 PM. Check the meeting schedule and agenda to confirm the date and location.

If you have an interest in serving on the Mental Health Commission, you may call either the Board of Supervisors at (805) 568-2190 or ADMHS Administration, (805) 681-5220, for more information.
