Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley is warning the public about a scam letter circulating in our community. It is signed with the name J. Scott Dudley.

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that Yvonne Alish Castillo, 34 years old, of Santa Barbara pled to one count of Felony Grand Theft under Penal Code section 487(a).

At approximately 2:15 a.m. this morning, February 20, 2018, the Chumash Casino Security Dispatch called the Santa Barbara County Public Safety Dispatch Center to report that two of its Chumash Security Investigators were in an altercation with a male subject and needed assistance.

At about 10:20pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018, deputies from the Isla Vista Foot Patrol arrested a suspect for attempted burglary in the 6600 block of Del Playa Drive.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning, February 18, 2018, Santa Barbara Sheriff's Deputies assigned to the Santa Maria Valley area responded to a report of an intoxicated subject vandalizing vehicles in the 200 block of Pacific St. in Orcutt. Prior to their arrival, the suspect had fled in his vehicle.

New Rain Gauges Will Enhance Burn-Area Monitoring and Advance Warnings

It is important for the public to understand the risks associated with storms in the area and what to do when evacuation orders are issued. To provide information on future storm risks and evacuation information, the County is holding a community meeting on Tuesday, February 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Carpinteria High School, 4810 Foothill Rd., in the cafeteria. Spanish and ASL interpretation will be available.
