Preventative maintenance work will begin next week, July 17, 2018 and will continue through August 2, 2018. This project will resurface approximately 26 lane miles of roads in the First, Second, and Third Districts.

On Tuesday, 07-10-18, at approximately 2:00 PM, deputies from the Compliance Response Team (CRT) conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Caravan, after the vehicle was observed travelling through a stop sign without coming to a complete stop at the intersection of Duvali Street and Estriga Lane in the city of Santa Maria.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office welcomed four new employees and celebrated three promotions today, July 9, 2018, at a ceremony held at the Sheriff's Training Bureau. Among the new hires were three Administrative Office Professionals and a Financial Office Professional. Among the promotions were a Sheriff's Commander, Lieutenant and an Administrative Office Professional Senior.

Effective at 6 p.m., the areas that remain under Mandatory Evacuation for the Holiday Fire will be downgraded to an Exclusion Zone open to residents only. The area that was under Evacuation Warning has been lifted.

Effective 5 p.m., some areas under mandatory evacuation will be downgraded to an evacuation warning status.

At 1 a.m. on July 7, 2018, Santa Barbara County proclaimed a local emergency due to the Holiday Fire that is currently burning north of the city of Goleta in the unincorporated area of the county, north of Cathedral Oaks west of Fairview Avenue, east to Patterson Avenue. Numerous structures are actively burning, and mandatory evacuations were issued for an area with about 3,200 residents

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is on the scene of a fast-moving wildfire in Goleta. At this time, evacuations have been ordered for the areas North of Cathedral Oaks to West Camino Cielo Road, and from La Patera Lane west to North Patterson Avenue. If you are in this area, leave now.
