The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Barbara County South Coast and Mountains (zones CAZ252, CAZ239) in effect from 3 pm Tuesday July 24, 2018 to 10 am Thursday July 26, 2018.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 21, 2018, Sheriff's Deputies from the Lompoc and Santa Maria Stations, as well as the California Highway Patrol, Lompoc Police Department and California State Parks responded to report of a suicidal subject in a motorhome at the Jalama Beach Campground.
The Sheriff's Office is releasing the name of the decedent who was fatally injured on July 19, 2018, when he was struck by a northbound Amtrak passenger train east of Olive Mill Rd. in Montecito. The decedent is 50-year-old Rogelio Perez of Santa Barbara.
At approximately 6:45 a.m. today, July 19, 2018, an adult male was walking southbound along the railroad tracks just east of Olive Mill Rd in Montecito when he was fatally injured by an Amtrak passenger train that was headed northbound.
