An Orcutt resident is in custody following the discovery of heroin and methamphetamine at his residence in the 1400 block of Oak Knoll Road. Santa Barbara County Sheriff's detectives with the Special Investigations Bureau obtained a search warrant for the residence following numerous reports from citizens of suspicious activity at the home.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. today, November 27, 2016, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies assisted by officers from the Santa Maria Police Department and California Highway Patrol raided a cockfight in progress at a farm property located in the 3500 block of Telephone Road east of Santa Maria.

Isla Vista Foot Patrol Officers arrested a local transient believed responsible for several residential burglaries in the Isla Vista community. Following an investigation, 24-year-old Adam Winslow Dale was arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of prowling and burglary.

A paraglider who was fatally injured on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2016, has been identified as being 56-year-old Marjorie "Marge" Variano of Cornelius, North Carolina.
