The Green Team
In 1999, representatives from General Services, Planning and
Development, the Parks Department, the Agricultural Commissioner's
Office, and Public Works joined together to form the Santa Barbara
County Green Team. The Green Team's goal is to increase resource
use efficiency and reduce the County's impact on human health
and the environment. This goal will be achieved through implementing
programs to increase recycling efforts,
conserving natural resources, purchasing recycled-content products,
and purchasing environmentally friendly cleaning and pest control
products.
Project Objectives
The purpose of the Green Team is to evaluate the County's current
procurement practices, pesticide practices, natural resource and
energy usage, and identify areas for increased efficiency and
reduced impact on human health and the environment.
